NFC DC-DC Boost Summary

  • Transmitter power is increased by boosting the available battery voltage from 2.5V- 5.25V to 5V
  • Boosting the NFC power enhances user experience by increasing the operating range of the typical NFC enabled smartphones and phablets.
  • Smaller NFC antennas combined with a signal power boost converter reduces handset footprint and weight – without sacrificing performance

Where used?

  • Primary: Smartphones, phablets, tablets with NFC IC’s (PN548, PN66T or later generations)
  • Secondary: 5V supply to backlighting and RF devices

Why used?

  • NFC: Increased Field strength (boosted battery voltage)
  • NFC: Reduce Antenna size and maintain working distance (optional small form factor)
  • Provide 5V for reliable performance regardless of battery level
